Well quite a day… left Chepstow at 11.20 this morning after a train from Glouster.
Beautiful sunny morning but come the afternoon… i can only assume the farmers were praying and in came the rain.. gallons of it!
It seemed to make the fact the campsite showers weren’t working as mildly irrelevant due to my previous shower during the day.
Anyway in chronological order.. In the morning I met up the Andrew and Ruth Price plus extended family. Was lovely to see their vision for their land and hear their stories. They have a wonderful venue. Do check thecominghomeproject on Google.. https://www.thecominghomeproject.online/
After a farm tour i headed back north over some unsigned very big hills until I passed Abergavenny to my west and raglan to the East.
I was too keenly aware of my lack on training particularly as I came over the Gospel Pass. Reportedly one of the highest road in Wales. It took a lot if getting into.. that is the almost rising steps as I ascended the pass from the southern side.
I took a few minutes to sing amazing Grace to the Lord in the rain and then took the very fast decent into Hay on Wye.
I arrived at my campsite soaked literally to the skin as I jacket I’d picked up on vinted seemed more like a wet suit.
I set up my bivi and then cooked myself pasta tuna sweetcorn.
More tomorrow. 12 noon prayer for Wales on zoom. Please email office@ndhop.org for info and the link.
