I arrived on Thurso and then headed out towards John O Groats.. I was going to take in Dunnet Head (most northern point on mainland) but time wasn’t on my side and with wind increasing and temperature dropping I needed to get to JOG.
I was due to start tomorrow but as my flight landed early and my train worked I figured with dry weather let’s get moving!
JOG was cold… like two degrees windchill.. so a shorter than planned zoom (apologies to everyone who couldn’t make it on/had trouble) and time to start.
I’d spent the previous weeks trying to pin-down a route and on-approach to JOG I asked Jesus which way to go.. the easier route would be back through thurso but that would be another 30 miles against the wind.. Holy Spirit challenged me .. “So, who sent the wind? And you want to ride against it ? ” I walked upto the map board by the finger post at JOG and there was a map and a road that isn’t mentioned on any other map I’d looked at. Thank you Jesus. So I am now 15km South.. sleeping in my tent on the edge of a rough carpark… ready for some sleep.
I’ll add some more tomorrow.. zzzz Jim
